Curated Manor (“we”, “us”) is an independent home decor and interior styling publication at curatedmanor.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.
The short version
- We collect your first name and email only if you choose to give them to us.
- We use PostHog to see how the site is used — which guides get read, which links get clicked — and it records anonymised page replays so we can fix confusing layouts. Anything you type is masked and never recorded.
- We do not run Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or retargeting trackers.
- We do not sell or share your personal information, and never have.
- Photos you add to the Listing Visualizer never leave your device.
- You can unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data at any time: hello@curatedmanor.com.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Email and first name — when you subscribe to the newsletter, request the free guide, or unlock your results on the Design Style Quiz.
- Your quiz result — if you complete a quiz and give us your email, we store which quiz you took and the result you received (for example style-dna: Modern Organic) alongside your subscriber record, so the emails we send you are relevant rather than generic.
- Messages you send us — anything you email us directly.
- Agent accounts — if you are a real-estate partner with a login, we hold the username, email address and encrypted password for that account.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs. Our host records standard technical data: IP address, browser and device type, pages requested, and timestamps. This is used for security and troubleshooting.
- Essential cookies. WordPress sets functional cookies for logged-in users and comment forms. Our email provider sets a cookie so a signup form isn’t shown to you repeatedly.
- Analytics. We use PostHog to understand how people use the site — which pages get read, which links get clicked, and where people get stuck. PostHog stores an identifier in your browser so it can tell a returning visit from a new one. We have deliberately configured it not to build a personal profile for anonymous visitors, which is almost everyone.
- Session replays. PostHog also records a replay of how pages are used: mouse movement, clicks, scrolling, and the page as it appeared to you. Every form input is masked — anything you type, your email address above all, is replaced with dots before it leaves your browser and is never contained in a recording. We watch these only to find broken layouts and confusing navigation, and they are deleted on the schedule below.
Information that stays on your device
- Saved favourites. When you tap “Save” on a product, that list is stored in your own browser’s local storage. It is never transmitted to us, and clearing your browser data erases it.
- Listing Visualizer photos. If you add a photo of your room, it is displayed directly in your browser and is never uploaded to our servers or to anyone else. Close the tab and it’s gone.
What we don’t collect
We want to be specific, because “we value your privacy” means nothing on its own. This site does not run Google Analytics, the Meta/Facebook pixel, the Pinterest conversion tag, TikTok tracking, or any advertising or retargeting cookies. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not track you across other websites.
We do use one analytics tool — PostHog, described above. It exists to make this site better, and that is all it is used for: its data is never sold, never shared for advertising, and never used to follow you anywhere else. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, PostHog is switched off for you entirely.
How we use your information
- To send the newsletter and any guide or quiz results you asked for.
- To tailor what we send based on your quiz result, so you get ideas relevant to your style.
- To answer messages you send us.
- To operate and secure the site.
- To meet legal obligations.
Our lawful bases, where UK/EU law applies, are your consent (email marketing, which you can withdraw at any time) and our legitimate interests (running a secure website).
Affiliate links
Curated Manor is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.
When you click an affiliate link, the retailer may set its own cookies to attribute the visit and any resulting purchase. That happens on the retailer’s site, under the retailer’s privacy policy, not ours. We never see your payment details, card numbers, or order contents — only aggregate commission reports that do not identify individual customers. Affiliate links cost you nothing extra. See our Affiliate Disclosure for more.
Who we share information with
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only with the service providers needed to run the site:
- MailerLite — email delivery and subscriber management. Your name, email and quiz result are stored there.
- PostHog — product analytics and session replay, hosted on their United States cloud. They process site-usage data on our behalf under contract and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
- Hostinger — web hosting and server logs.
- Amazon Associates — affiliate link attribution, as described above.
- Google Fonts and jsDelivr — content delivery networks that serve the site’s typefaces and one animation library. Loading these makes your IP address visible to those providers, as it would on most websites.
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to. If Curated Manor is ever sold or transferred, subscriber data may transfer with it; we would tell you before that happened.
International transfers
We are based in the United States and our providers may process data in the United States and elsewhere. Where required, our providers use standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards for transfers out of the UK and EEA.
How long we keep it
We keep subscriber details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them, and then remove them within 30 days apart from anything we must retain by law. Server logs are kept for a short operational period by our host. PostHog session replays are kept for 30 days and analytics events for 12 months, then deleted automatically. Data held in your own browser stays until you clear it.
Your rights and choices
- Unsubscribe — every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, and it works immediately.
- Access, correction, deletion, portability — email us and we’ll action it.
- Objection and restriction — you can object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- California residents — under the CCPA/CPRA you have the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, and we do not offer financial incentives for data.
- UK and EU residents — you may lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority, though we’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.
We will never discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
Children
This site is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS and our providers hold your data on their own secured infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we can’t promise absolute security — but we don’t hold payment details or sensitive categories of data, which keeps the risk small.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we’ll update the date at the top, and for anything significant we’ll say so in the newsletter.
