A fall porch doesn’t need a weekend. It needs five swaps, in the right order, and an afternoon. Nothing here involves paint, a ladder or a trip to more than one store.
Do them in this order, because each one makes the next one look better.

Swap one: the mat
Layer it. A wide jute mat with a narrower striped coir mat on top. Two mats cost less than one good one and the layering is what makes the porch look considered from the pavement.

Swap two: the planters
Summer annuals come out. Ornamental grasses go in, in two matching distressed terracotta planters either side of the door. Grasses catch low autumn light and need nothing from you until spring.
Seasonal pieces sell through fast, so check availability before you buy.

Swap three: the wreath
A preserved dried wheat wreath on the door. Dried over fresh, every time: it lasts years, not weeks, and it looks better slightly loose than tightly packed.
Swap four: the pumpkins
Cream, sage and one deep rust or oxblood, in odd numbers on the steps. Not orange. Velvet pumpkins if the porch is covered, real ones if it isn’t. The one bold pumpkin is the accent; everything else stays pale.
Swap five: the bulb
Change the porch light to 2700K warm white and add one brass lantern on the step. Cool white light undoes the other four swaps the moment the sun goes down. This is the cheapest one on the list and the one most people never do.

What you don’t touch
The door colour, the furniture, the house numbers. A refresh is five things, not fifteen. If you want the bolder October version, the Halloween porch in black, oxblood and brass is the same five swaps with the volume up.
